Denim Care
Durable and universally loved, denim deserves a spot in every wardrobe. It doesn’t need to be washed often, it’s hard-wearing, and it shapes to your body with wear and time. It only gets better with age and care.
What to do:
- Turn denim inside out to wash.
- Gentle machine wash in cold water.
- Wash with like colours.
- Air dry.
- Avoid contact with light colours and upholstery.
- Check the care tag on your denim for best washing advice.
What not to do:
- Tumble dry.
- Allow to air dry in direct sunlight.
- Wash regularly.
Cotton Care
Versatile, comfortable, and breathable, cotton is a go-to natural fibre. Seed Heritage is a member of Better Cotton as part of our commitment to work towards a more sustainable sourcing approach across the business. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.
What to do:
- Handwash or machine wash on a delicate cycle, in cold water.
- Keep cotton products separate from synthetic garments when washing.
- Allow items to dry flat or on the line, in shade.
- Iron inside out on medium heat, or steam.
- Wash delicate cotton items in a laundry bag.
What not to do:
- Tumble dry.
- Iron frequently.
- Wash regularly.
Leather Care
Durable, luxe, and versatile, leather works hard for its spot in your wardrobe. While we do recommend heading to a specialist for any cleaning of your leather and suede pieces, they should not need cleaning regularly. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.
What to do:
- Spot clean with a damp cloth.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Use a leather or suede protectant.
- Use a suede brush to remove any dust or dirt.
- Take your items to a specialist leather dry cleaner.
- Check the care tag on your leather pieces for best washing advice.
What not to do:
- Use anything abrasive on your leather or suede, or rub it when wet.
- Use heat on your leather.
- Keep your pieces in direct sunlight – this can cause them to fade.
Knitwear Care
Cosy, comfortable, and makes for a key element in cool-weather styling. Our knitwear is crafted from premium natural fibres like Merino wool, alpaca, and mohair. Each piece is unique, and some blends contain synthetic fibres to increase durability, so will require specific care. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.
What to do:
- Refresh by airing between wears.
- Wash by hand wherever possible, in cold water.
- Store your pieces folded.
- Gently use a knitwear comb to remove pills, combing in the direction of the fibres.
- Dry clean.
- Check the care tag on your knit pieces for best washing advice.
What not to do:
- Bleach, soak or wring your knitwear.
- Wash regularly.
- Tumble dry.
- Hang to dry, or store hung up, as this can cause the knitwear to lose shape.
Viscose Care
Viscose fibres and yarns are usually woven or knitted into smooth, soft fabric, which makes it ideal for hot and humid climates. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.
What to do:
- Hand wash inside out in cold water.
- If washing by machine, cool wash inside out in a delicates bag and low spin to avoid pilling and snags.
- Steam iron to reshape.
- Store folded to prevent distortion.
- Check the care tag on your viscose pieces for best washing advice.
What not to do:
- Machine wash on a hot cycle.
- Tumble dry.
- Wring dry.
Linen Care
Linen is a textile made from the fibres of the flax plant. It's very strong and absorbent, which makes it a comfortable option for warm weather. Due to its large fibres and open weaves, it's highly breathable and incredibly durable. Over time, linen becomes softer with each wash without losing its strength. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.
What to do:
- Wash with a gentle detergent and with similar colours.
- Machine wash in cool water.
- Iron while slightly damp.
- For linen suits and jackets, dry clean only to maintain shape and protect trims.

What not to do:
- Twist when washing and drying.
- Use fabric softener.
- Use bleach to clean; it can discolour and damage.
- Tumble dry.
Silk Care
A fine, strong, and lustrous fibre, silk is produced by silkworms and collected to make thread and fabric. It's the strongest of natural fibres and, if treated with love and care, it will retain its brilliant lustre for years to come. Always follow the care instructions on the individual garment as some silks are dry clean only, some can be hand washed, and some are machine washable. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.
What to do:
- Hand wash with a delicate silk detergent in cool water, one garment at a time.
- Machine wash in a mesh bag to prevent snagging or tangling.
- Machine wash on a delicate cycle with cold water.
- Steam with a delicate fabric steamer and only when garment is dry.
- Check the care tag on your silk pieces for best washing advice.
What not to do:
- Wring or twist dry.
- Hang in direct sun to dry.
- Iron directly.
Cashmere Care
Known for its extremely soft feel and insulating properties. Its fibres are fine and delicate, with an almost silk-like feel. Given the delicate nature of the fibre, cashmere garments require special care to maintain their condition and longevity. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.
What to do:
- Always hand wash inside out in cool water; it's best to wash every 3 to 4 wears only.
- Store folded in a drawer or storage box with cedar balls/oil to prevent moths.
- Steam or iron inside out with a damp cloth on a cool setting.
- Gently use a knitwear comb to remove pills, combing in the direction of the fibres.
- Check the care tag on your cashmere pieces for best washing advice.
What not to do:
- Machine wash.
- Wring to dry or tumble dry.
- Store it when dirty; sweat, stains, and hair attract moths.
- Hang (causes stretching).
