Viscose is made by extracting cellulose from wood
and
regenerating it into long thin strands that are similar to silk.
Cellulose is the compound every plant contains.
Benefits
Viscose is breathable and absorbent which makes it comfortable to wear all year
round.
We use Viscose for it’s incomparable drape and it’s resilience to hold colour well after washing from
dyeing and printing.
Ways to care
Washing
Your garment’s care label will provide the best care guide for the individual
garment.
If the instructions state that the garment is machine washable, it can also be hand washed by hand to
protect the garment from the agitation of a washing machine. Washing inside out in cold water with well
dissolved detergent is a protective measure and saves energy. If washing by machine, cool wash inside
out in a net washing bag and low spin to avoid pilling and snags.
Drying
Viscose is delicate when wet, so do not wring. To remove excess water, gently shake
or roll in a towel to absorb moisture before drying on a line, rack or flat surface, smoothing out
wrinkles to reduce creases.
Do not use a dryer as they are harsh on Viscose and may cause shrinkage or surface damage: This fabric
air dries quickly.
Pressing
To avoid marks or shine, cool iron from the inside or use a cloth between the right side of fabric and
iron to protect the surface.
You can also iron while the fabric is slightly damp to help protect the delicate fibres
from damage.
Viscose can also be streamed when dry to achieve a crease free finish. Take care not to flatten
crinkle fabrics.
Storing
Fold knit viscose styles to prevent distortion, protect garments from bugs by storing in a
cotton bag.
Woven garments can be hung. To avoid mildew, ensure that garments are completely clean and dry before
transferring to storage.
