Silk Care

Silk Care

A fine, strong, and lustrous fibre, silk is produced by silkworms and collected to make thread and fabric. It's the strongest of natural fibres and, if treated with love and care, it will retain its brilliant lustre for years to come. Always follow the care instructions on the individual garment as some silks are dry clean only, some can be hand washed, and some are machine washable. It's important to follow any specific instructions provided on your garment's care label.

What to do:

  • Hand wash with a delicate silk detergent in cool water, one garment at a time.
  • Machine wash in a mesh bag to prevent snagging or tangling.
  • Machine wash on a delicate cycle with cold water.
  • To dry, place garment on a white cotton towel, fold the towel, and gently blot.
  • Steam with a delicate fabric steamer and only when garment is dry.
  • Check the care tag on your silk pieces for best washing advice.

What not to do:

  • Wring or twist dry.
  • Hang in direct sun to dry.
  • Put silk garments in the dryer.
